Future Private Practice?
Vivian: Hey April, what do you think of the name Dr. Bacon?
April: Ehhh, it's better if he's Professor Bacon. Dr. Bacon doesn't sound as cool.
Me: Well, I can be Dr. Bacon for the little kids. And Vivian, you can be Dr. Lamchop.
Vivian: Nah. I don't like that.
Me: Well, once we become doctors we can open up our own private practice together. I was thinking something like...
Vivian: How about the "Butcher Shop?" You know, because you're Bacon and I'm Lam?
April: That just sounds too sadistic. Why would any kid want to go to a doctor who's practice is called "The Butcher Shop?"
Me: HAHAHA, I was thinking something along the lines of "Bacon and Lamchop," but hey! That works too!

Cultural Connection
I think what I love about my Filipino Class the most is that I can relive the memories of an enlightening time in my life, my vacation to my real home, the Philippines.  Sure, I may be an American citizen, a “native,” but that doesn’t mean that my heart belongs somewhere else.  Sure, the Philippines is nothing like America, but its my culture, my heritage, and my family.  And one...

An Ascension
It was such a nice day outside today. The battle was long; the struggle tough, and though you did not succeed, your spirit did.  As I look outside my window at the beautiful son, I cannot help but think of how beautiful your life was and how your life will continue to touch the hearts of your family and friends, myself included. God choose a beautiful day to call you back.  With the sun shining,...

Reality of the Day
A prayer for guidance, a prayer for strength, a prayer for faith, a prayer for hope, and a prayer for love. Difficult times of a loved one always seem to ground you and remind you of what really is important in life.  I only pray for faith, hope, love and trust in the Lord for my family and friends, for our strength through our daily struggles and the unexpected obstacles that shake our world. I...

11:11 Take 2
Today is 1/11/11.  To me, this is the second of 4 epic 11:11 wish days. The first was 1/1/11. The second is today 1/11/11. The third is 11/1/11. And the fourth and final is the ultimate wish… 11/11/11 at 11:11. I will definitely make a wish tonight.

Random High School Memory of Day
Today I remembered a dream from a few years ago, high school specifically.  It was a very nice day outside and for some reason my class (specifically Mr. Knapp’s) and I were having a field trip in a park with hills similar to the ones from the movie UP.  We were probably discussing something relating to dualism; it really does not matter.  But what I remember most was the sense of peace I...

Awkward Moment
When you are walking to class and see a girl waving at you.  You think you know her.  You doubt yourself for a bit, slowly take off your headphones and begin to raise your hand in salutation only to have her say “Ooops, I was actually waving over there.”  You reply with ‘Oh, sorry, I thought so.’

Over the Limit
Today, a wise person enlightened me and has prevented me from making one of the biggest academic, social, and mental mistakes of my life.  I thought I could handle the workload, but I realized tonight that it’s not worth it if I can’t be happy with myself.  Well, I’ve decided, it’s 3 classes instead of 4 this quarter, but the brand new responsibility that God has so...

A Few Promises to Myself
In light of recent events (New Year 2011), I’ve decided to post my New Years’ Resolutions.  I’ve never felt more serious about resolutions before.  In lieu of my lack of success for last year’s resolutions, I felt that it was best that I make detailed plans (or at least write them down for reference).  I wanted to make 11, but I could only make 8 off the top of my head. ...
